Gamemaster for Catalyst this summer!

March 6th, 2009

Catalyst has submitted all of our event descriptions to GenCon and Origins for the summer conventions. As usual, we’ve submitted a few more events than we have GMs available to run them. With that in mind, we’re actively seeking more GMs. If you’re interested in attending, CGL can provide convention badges and some assistance with hotel expenses to anyone willing to run 20+ hours of RPG events for any of our games.

GMs who work these events do also tend to get an early look at the tournaments, Shadowrun Missions, and other interesting tidbits.

If that sounds interesting to you, please drop an e-mail to gmvolunteer@live.com – you’ll talk to our RPG convention coordinator, Chuck, who will be more than happy to answer any questions and get you on our schedule.

The third Saturday of the month is rapidly approaching, and that means that it’s time for the monthly Catalyst Game Labs Shadowrun chat. This month, we’ll be opening things up to a general Shadowrun Q&A. So, come with your questions in hand, and the Shadowrun team will do their best to field them.

Awesome Swiss Shadowrun LARP

May 13th, 2008

A group calling themselves Le Four Fantastique (website in French) put together a four-team Shadowrun LARP in “a skatepark in a warehouse in a shady neighborhood”. They used LazerTag weapons, and everyone looks to have had some pretty kick ass costumes.

As usual, it sounds like the mission took an unexpected turn, and there are indications of a sequel. If you’re in the area, you should definitely get in touch with these guys for some LARPy Shadowrun goodness.

Kudos to Le Four Fantastique for putting together such a cool event, and thanks for sharing it with everyone.

Monthly Shadowrun Chat – April 19th (In Character!)

April 18th, 2008

This should be cool.

Catalyst Game Labs will be holding our monthly SR Chat next Saturday, April 19. This month we’ll be doing something somewhat different from our regular Q&A with the developers and authors. Instead, to promote our upcoming campaign book Ghost Cartels, we’ll be giving fans the opportunity to participate in an “in character chat with some of our regular JackPoint posters. In the guise of a Matrix discussion between our regular fictional characters, we’ll be offering fans teasers about the upcoming campaign and the events depicted therein.

Big Dog “drone” from Boston Dynamics: Submachine Gun Not Included

March 17th, 2008

Good news, the Doberman is on its way to us. Tell your rigger to put one on the wishlist.

There’s not much in the way of potential applications or future plans given on the site (link below the vid), but we’re sure you’ll come up with some of your own.

Watch the Big Dog do its thing.

Read more about it on the Boston Dynamics site.

And check out its baby brother, Little Dog.

Weregeek Doing Another Shadowrun Arc

March 17th, 2008

The mostly-roleplaying-centered webcomic Weregeek is in the midst of another fun Shadowrun-themed arc. No telling how long it’ll last, but they’re always fun. Of course, they never say that it’s Shadowrun, but come on: black trench coats and trolls.

Arc starts here.

(There are a few guest comics smack in the middle of the arc; they have nothing to do with the main story, so you can safely skip them. The writer/artist’s tribute to EGG also interrupts the arc, but hey, that’s a panel well spent.)

Rob Boyle Stepping Down as Shadowrun Line Developer

March 16th, 2008

Rob Boyle will be stepping down as the Shadowrun Line Developer soon.  Taking his place will be Peter Taylor, who began as a freelancer for the Shadowrun line and made his way into an assistant developer spot.

We here at Dumpshock would like to extend our own thanks and kudos for the job that Rob has done over the years.

Peter, congratulations on the promotion.  We look forward to seeing where you take our favorite game.

Domestic Terror Group ‘ELF’ Suspected in Washington Fires

March 3rd, 2008

WOODINVILLE, Wash. —  Four large homes are burning at a “Street of Dreams” model home development north of Woodinville, and the Snohomish County District Seven Chief Rick Eastman told KING-TV that a sign saying ELF was left at the scene.

ELF or Earth Liberation Front has claimed responsibility for other arsons, including one at the University of Washington in 2001 for which a woman is now on trial in Tacoma.

Eastman also told KOMO-TV that the fires are suspicious because they were set in multiple places in separate homes.

Eastman says police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating.

No reports of injuries in the three-alarm Monday morning fire. Eastman says some of the homes were still under construction.

Eastman says one is a total loss and two homes are substantially damaged. He says fires also were set at a total of six homes.

The Street of Dreams is an annual showcase of luxury homes in the Seattle area. The latest development is off Highway 522 at Echo Lake Drive.

Shadowrun Developer Public Chat

February 14th, 2008

This Saturday, February 16th, at 10AM PST, Catalyst Game Labs is presenting a public Question and Answer with Shadowrun developers. For any who’d like to join in, please visit the SR public chat at the appropriate time.

Because this is the first Shadowrun chat that CGL has offered, this one will be open to general question and answers. Future chats may be focused on specific themes. The chat will be moderated to allow for an orderly system of asking and answering questions.

The chat is open to the general public. BattleCorps membership is not required, and there is no fee for participation.
